Terengganu To Build 4,000 Affordable Houses Next Year

Last update: 24/09/2014KUALA TERENGGANU, Sept 24 (Bernama) -- The state government will build 4,000 affordable houses in all its eight parliamentary constituencies next year.

Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said this was to enable those still without a house to own one.

"Under the New Terengganu Transformation policy, providing infrastructure and facilities will enable areas which are not strategic to become strategic. We also want a balanced development in the state," he told Mohd Iskandar Jaafar (BN-Jabi) at the Terengganu State Assembly here, today.

He said the state government had not started the project as it was focusing on ongoing housing projects.

Ahmad Razif said five 1Malaysia People's Housing Project (PR1MA) were also planned in Kemaman, Setiu, Dungun and Marang (two).

"We plan to implement PR1MA projects for civil servants and People's Housing Projects which have been submitted to the Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government.

However, until today the state government is waiting for the decision of the ministry on the projects, Ahmad Razif said.

Meanwhile, a PAS elected representative praised the state government's effort in tackling illegal racing in the state.

Hilmi Harun (PAS-Manir), commenting on an answer by Datuk Rozi Mamat (BN-Telemong) on the state government's approach on the problem, said he did not deny the state government's concern over the issue, and praised its efforts.
