PR1MA Realises Youths' Dream Of Owning Houses

PETALING JAYA, May 7 (Bernama) --Implementation of the 1Malaysia People's Housing Project (PR1MA) by PR1MA Corporation has enabled many young people, especially those in their 30s, to realise their dream of owning a house.

At any events organised by PR1MA Corporation, youths will make time to go to the venue for an opportunity to be among the lucky applicants to be offered a PR1MA house.

To facilitate applications by those eligible, there are counters by the relevant agencies like the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Bank Negara and the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN).

For newly weds Loi Pak Keong , 32, and wife, Thai Yew Kin, 26, they considered themselves to finally being offered a PR1MA house.

"I had applied many times for the PR1MA house when I was a bachelor, but never succeed. Now that I am a husband and to be a father in a few months, I finally got the offer, said Loi when met at the PR1MA Open Day here today. The couple got married two months ago.

Lai, a marketing officer with a company in Kuala Lumpur, and his wife, an accountant, chose a three bedroom house with two bathrooms, costing RM400,000 at Prima Alam Damai, Cheras.

As for Barani Kumar, 31, who is a project engineer and getting married this August, he opted for a double-storey terrace house with four bedrooms and three bathrooms, costing RM235,000, at Prima Rantau, Negeri Sembilan.

"It will be a wedding gift for my wife," said Kumar, who was accompanied by his wife-to-be, Shanthini Arumugam, 31.

A staff of Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, Zaid Ihsan Abd Mutalib, 32, expected his seven-year wait to buy a house to be realised soon through PR1MA .

"Eight months ago, I applied for a PR1MA house for an apartment unit at Prima Alam Damai, Cheras, but was unsuccessful. My second application for a house at Prima Rantau, in Negeri Sembilan, Alhamdulillah, has been approved," he said.

The PR1MA houses are offered to Malaysians with household income of less than RM15,000 and do not have more than one property.

There are 23 PR1MA housing projects nationwide to be offered to eligible buyers in the public and private sectors.

So far, 1.41 million Malaysians have registered with PR1MA for the house.
