KPKT Approves RM10 Mln To Repair Taman Medan's Low Cost Apartments

PETALING JAYA, Sept 12 (Bernama) -- The Urban Well Being, Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) today approved approximately RM10 million in allocation to repair damaged facilities at low cost apartments developed by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) in Taman Datuk Harun and Desa Perangsang here.

Minister Tan Sri Noh Omar said the repair works would be carried out the soonest possible to benefit over 3,000 residents in the areas.

He said among the works were the replacement of new water tanks and roofs; upgrading works of drains, fences and surau; as well as building a futsal court which will be turned into a multi-purpose hall.

"This is the ministry's responsibility to ensure the comfort of low-income groups who live in old apartments, especially in the city.

"They cannot even rely on the collection by Joint Management Body (JMB) as they too cannot afford (to spend on repair works),"he told reporters after conducting a check at the apartments here today.

Meanwhile, Noh, who is also Selangor UMNO Liaison Committee Chairman, urged local authorities (LAs) to give their cooperation in every project by the federal government.

He said there had been projects which the federal government had promised to develop but needed the go ahead from the LAs.

"I urge these LAs to cooperate and not to politicise the projects for the people,"Noh added.
