Last update: 15/09/2017

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 15 (Bernama) -- The National Council of Professors (MPN) will conduct a research on affordable home ownership for the Malaysian Property Press Awards (MPPA) by next year, says MPN chief executive officer Professor Datuk Dr Raduan Che Rose.

He said the research would begin after the MPPA 2017 annual awards ceremony scheduled to be held in the fourth quarter of this year.

This is the first time MPN is collaborating with MPPA to highlight the issue of  increasing  home ownership in the country.

"The research to be conducted by MPN will come up with appropriate recommendations for the housing developers industry," he told reporters at a media conference on MPPA 2017 at the MPN office here today.

Raduan said currently, the scenario in the country was that there were more than sufficient houses. However, he noted, not many middle-class Malaysians, especially the young generation could afford to own these houses.

Meanwhile, MPPA chairman, B. Gunaprasath said MPPA 2017 would give recognition to the government for its efforts in delivering key infrastructure projects and housing for Malaysians over the past several decades.

MPPA which enters its eighth year is an annual awards ceremony which recognises the outstanding achievements of participants within the property industry.
