Government Should Take Bold Steps To Address Affordable Housing Issue - BDB

Last update: 27/12/2017

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 27 (Bernama) -- Bina Darulaman Berhad (BDB) has called upon the government to take bold steps to address the affordable housing issue in Malaysia.

BDB group managing director Datuk Izham Yusoff said the country could emulate how Singapore handled affordable housing, through its Housing and Development Board (HDB).

"The housing issue is significant, not only in Kedah, but also throughout the country. Affordable housing will always be an issue," said Izham in his speech at the BDB Media Night KL here, today.

Established on Feb 1, 1960, HDB is the statutory board of the Singaporean National Development Ministry, which is responsible for public housing in the city-state.

Izham said that BDB as a Kedah-based developer, tried to help reduce the cost of its properties through the usage of Industrialised Building Systems (IBS) technology.

Around 150 media practitioners were treated to a sumptuous four-course meal at the black and white themed event.

The media were also celebrated with lucky draws of attractive prizes and a live performance by rising local artist, Wany Hasrita.
