Indian Community Urged To Buy RUMAWIP Houses

Last update: 03/02/2018

KUALA LUMPUR,  Feb 3 (Bernama) -- The Indian community should grab the opportunity to buy houses under the Federal Territory Affordable Homes (RUMAWIP) as there are still many not taken up of the 10 per cent quota reserved for them.

Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the government had never neglected the welfare of the Indian community to own their first house in the Federal Territory.

He said the Federal Territories Foundation offered special loan for the Indian community with financial constraint to buy the house.

"I feel upset when there are quarters saying that efforts and facilities provided by the government to help the people are just lies," he said when opening the 'Kenduri 1Wilayah Persekutuan' (Kenduri 1WP) for the Titiwangsa parliamentary constituency here today.

The event, also attended by Titiwangsa Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, was held at the Taman Maluri UMNO Community Hall and drew about 10,000 people.

Tengku Adnan said the 'Kenduri 1WP' would continue to be held so that leaders could be with the people to know and understand their problems, as well as find ways to resolve them immediately.

"This kenduri, which is held through gotong royong, is seen able to enhance the spirit of cooperation, and build harmony among the local community and the leaders," he said.

He said 35 programmes had been outlined throughout the one-month Federal Territory Day celebration and they included sports, recreation activities, stage performance and exhibitions.
