KUANTAN, Feb 23 (Bernama) --Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad’s (SPNB) subsidiary, SPNB Aspirasi Sdn Bhd is building 1,004 townhouse units in KotaSAS, with a gross development value of RM297 million in four phases within five years.

SPNB Aspirasi Chairman Ahri Hashim said the 'Rumah Aspirasi Rakyat' (RAR) project was being developed following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the company with KotaSAS Sdn Bhd.

"The affordable townhouses will be built on an 18-hectare site, with the units having built-up areas of 24x70 (156 sqm) and 26x70 (169 sqm) priced from RM240,000 to RM260,000.

"We are building the townhouses to meet the demand from Kuantan residents who prefer to own landed properties, and we are confident that this project can become a catalyst for the growth of the KotaSAS township," said Ahri.

He was speaking to reporters after the opening ceremony of the Tanah Makmur building and the KotaSAS Sales Gallery by the Regent of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah here, today.

Also present were Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob, SPNB Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Ahmad Azizi Ali and SPNB Aspirasi Chief Executive Officer Hisham Ahmad.

Ahri said KotaSAS' attractive features included its proximity to the state government’s new administration centre and the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL).

He said SPNB Aspirasi was also in the midst of developing several other projects, including Aspire Residence in Cyberjaya, Taman Sutera Wangi (Phase 3) project in Melaka and Project Metro Maya in Perak.
