Scientex to build 50,000 affordable houses by 2028

KUALA LUMPUR, July 15 (Bernama) -- Property developer Scientex Bhd aims to build 50,000 affordably-priced quality homes throughout the nation by 2028.

Managing Director Lim Peng Jin said the target is in line with Scientex’s commitment to property development in Melaka, especially affordable houses.

"Scientex’s goal is to continue playing our part to make affordable home ownership a reality for all individuals and families," he said in a statement today.

Earlier, Scientex’s subsidiary Scientex Heights Sdn Bhd launched 116 units of two-storey terraced homes in Durian Tunggal, Alor Gajah under the Rumah Mampu Milik Melaka (RMM) programme, aimed at addressing the increasing demand for affordably priced quality homes in Melaka.

Lim said buoyed by the strong take-up rate during the pre-booking of the 116-unit phase, Scientex intends to launch the next phase of Scientex Durian Tunggal comprising 104 units of double-storey houses.

This subsequent phase would be open for sale upon obtaining approval from the relevant authorities, he said.

To date, Scientex’s property division has successfully delivered nearly 16,400 affordable homes priced below RM500,000 nationwide, of which approximately 70 per cent are priced below RM200,000.
