MELAKA, Nov 21 (Bernama) -- The Melaka Housing Board (LPM) in cooperation with Paduwan Realty Sdn Bhd will undertake a RM965.19 million mixed housing development project in Jasin and Melaka Tengah districts.

Chief Minister Adly Zahari said the project comprises 567 units of affordable houses under the Rumah Mampu Milik (RMM) scheme slated for completion in six years’ time.

He said the first of two phases is expected to be completed in three years, with the second phase taking another three years.

"The project will be on 123.5 hectares of land comprising 1,353 units of terraced houses priced from RM350,000 to RM900,000. Ayer Panas and Ayer Molek have been chosen for their strategic location,” he told reporters after witnessing the signing of the agreement between the two parties at Ayer Keroh here today.

Signing on behalf of LPM was Executive Director Saleh Mohd Dom while Paduwan Realty was represented by Managing Director Datuk Seri Poh Geok Seng and Director Poh Tin Yap.

Adly urged members of the state’s bottom 40 per cent household income group (B40) to apply for loans for the purchase of their first home.

"The state government with the cooperation of the federal government is targeting to build 48,000 RMM units statewide over the next five years.

"Of this total, 19,090 units will be built by state government agencies including LPM, Melaka Customary Lands Corporation, Melaka State Development Corporation, Melaka Chief Minister Incorporated, and private developers.

"Meanwhile, 28,922 units will be developed by federal departments or agencies including PR1MA Corporation Malaysia, Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd, Malaysia Civil Servants Housing Unit, and National Housing Department," he said.

He said 2,576 RMM units will have been completed by year-end, adding the state government has set the price for these three-bedroom units, measuring a minimum of 1,000 square feet, at RM180,000 each.
