Government Commited To Provide Houses For All - Ahmad Zahid

Last update: 09/06/2016

KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 (Bernama) -- The government is committed to ensure all the people in the country have homes and shelter, including the low-income group.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said those in the lower income group, especially in urban areas, would not be sidelined when the government build People's Housing Projects (PPR) and Public Housing (PA).

"PPR residents should be thankful because in no other country and place do people who live in squatter areas on government or private land get such benefit.

"We see in neighbouring countries how this is happening. There are no PPR homes, no houses for the public," he said in his speech at the Nur Ramadan programme, Federal Territory level held at PPR Seri Semarak here Thursday.

Ahmad Zahid also urged PPR and PA to transform their attitude and be thankful to the government for assistance given to them.

"If we feel that we have been moved out of the squatter areas into cluster homes with a better social structure, we must also change our mindset from squatters to that of structured housing areas," he said.
