Mk Land Plans To Develop New Industrial Area At Beriah Valley

Last update: 30/06/2016

BAGAN SERAI, June 30 (Bernama) -- MK Land Holdings Bhd, a leading property developer in Malaysia, plans to develop a new industrial area soon at the Beriah Valley, Alor Pongsu, near here.

MK Land founder Tan Sri Mustapha Kamal Abu Bakar said the move is an effort by the company to expand operations to a new segment and reduce dependence on the Bukit Merah Laketown Resort.

He said MK Land had land of 1,214 hectares in Beriah Valley and the new industrial area will create job opportunities for locals.

"A lot of young people from here work in Penang. When the industrial area is opened, it will enable them to work here," he added.

Mustapha Kamal told a media conference this after a breaking of fast event and the handing over of contributions to 29 disabled children at the Bukit Merah Laketown Resort surau last night.

He said the opening of the Alor Pongsu toll plaza recently has shortened the travel time from Penang to here via the Second Bridge to just 25 minutes.

"Land here is also cheaper compared to Penang and we can develop the area to enable the locals to benefit from it," he added.

He, however, declined to state the development cost of the industrial area.

Meanwhile, Mustapha Kamal said three companies from overseas are interested in investing in Bukit Merah Laketown Resort and the Belum Rainforest Resort in Gerik before year-end.

He added that one of the companies wanted to purchase land of 40 hectares here.

Another company from Singapore wanted in turn to rent land to undertake an agricultural project. The third is from Indonesia.
