1,347 Affordable Houses To Be Built In Alor Gajah, Jasin

MELAKA, Dec 7 (Bernama) -- A total of 1,347 houses and 51 shop/office lots will be built in two Affordable Home Housing (RMM) projects at a cost of about RM217.4 million in the districts of Alor Gajah and Jasin.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron said the two projects to be developed by Wawasan Intact Properties Sdn Bhd in collaboration with the Melaka Housing Board, was aimed at ensuring people in the state, including public servants, could own a house.

He said the first project to be developed would be the building of 129 RMM units in Taman Desa Idaman or known as the Melaka Government Officers' Homes on a 4.05-hectare site at a cost of about RM23.2 million in Durian Tunggal, Alor Gajah.

"Each unit is 28 ft x 50 ft in size and will be sold at RM180,000.

"Public servants in this state will be given priority to purchase the houses which are expected to be ready in six months," he said after the signing of the project agreement, here, today.

Also present were Melaka State Secretary Datuk Seri Naim Abu Bakar, Melaka Housing Board executive director Saleh Md Dom and Wawasan Intact Properties directors, Datuk Ng Choon Cheng and Ng Choon Koon.

Saleh signed the agreement on behalf of Melaka Housing Board, while Wawasan Intact Properties was represented by its two directors.

Idris said the project would in future, spur various infrastructural development in the area involved, especially if a high-speed rail station were to be built there.

He said the second project would involve the building of 1,218 RMM houses and 51 shop/office units on 35.46 hectares of land at a cost of about RM194.2 million in Merlimau, Jasin.

"These houses will be sold at RM150,000 per unit and the shop/office lots at RM225,000 each."

He said the project, to be developed in two phases, would also have a positive impact on infrastructural development in Merlimau.
