BUKIT GANTANG, March 14 (Bernama) -- SPNB Mesra Sdn Bhd (SPNB Mesra) will build 5,000 units of 1Malaysia People-Friendly Houses (RMR1M) in Perak this year.

Its chairman, Datuk Mohamed Hasnan Che Hussin said from the number, 192 units had been approved to be built in the Bukit Gantang parliamentary constituency.

He said the actual cost of each RMR1M unit was RM65,000, with the government providing a subsidy of RM20,000 while the buyers only needed to pay RM45,000 for the unit.

"The buyers need to pay only RM270 per month in instalments for 25 years. The provision of subsidy proves that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is sensitive to the needs of the people."

Mohamed Hasnan said this after the handing-out of the RMR1M certificates of eligibility and work indent by Bukit Gantang UMNO division chief, Datuk Syed Husin Hafiz Syed Abul Fasal.

He said the government provided an allocation to SPNB Mesra to build 5,000 RMR1M units in Perak.

Meanwhile, Syed Husin Hafiz said the RMR1M units had received encouraging response from residents in the parliamentary constituency.

"We have received many applications sent through the UMNO service centre and each application was forwarded to SPNB for consideration and approval," he said.
