SPNB Plans To Build 10,000 Houses Over The Next Four Years

SUNGAI PETANI, March 26 (Bernama) -- Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) has planned to build 10,000 housing units in Kedah over the next four years.



Its chairman, Datuk Dr Abd Latiff Ahmad said the construction, to kick off this year, would take place at several strategic locations such as in Sungai Petani and the Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP) industrial area.



"The 10,000 housing units will be built in the next four years until 2020.



"Of the numbers, we will also build affordable homes from as low as RM65,000 up to RM300,000," he told reporters after the handing over of the keys ceremony for Phase 2A houses and the pre-launch sales of Phase 2B of Taman Universiti Jaya, Semeling here today.



Also present were Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah and SPNB group chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Azizi Ali.



Meanwhile, Abd Latiff said the Phase 2A project in Taman Universiti Jaya, involving 104 single-storey houses with the selling price of RM138,600 per unit, were completed three months in advance.



"The project is the continuation of Phase 1, involving 411 units, which was completed in 2007," he said, adding that the newly launched Phase 2B project comprised 146 units.
